Vredestein Ultrac Vorti+ and Vorti R+ high-performance tyre range launched

Dutch tyre producer Vredestein takes aim at the big boys with its new performance tyres

Vredestein has launched a new range of Vorti+ and Vorti R+ performance tyres aimed at challenging Michelin’s Pilot Sport 4 and Pirelli’s P Zero. The new tyres have been designed specifically for high-performance applications, striking a balance between outright grip levels and predictable handling.

The two tyres represent a development of the current Vorti and Vorti R, each straddling more common performance rubber such as Michelin’s Pilot Sport 4 S in terms of ultimate dry weather grip. Development of the new Vorti tyres has seen an emphasis on creating stiffer sidewalls for better lateral stability under hard cornering, along with a reinforced bead for better connection to the rim.

There’s also been a focus on generating high friction in the compound without sharpening the transition from grip to slip, something that extreme summer performance tyres can often exhibit due to the softer rubber. This new focus should lead to more consistent handling in high-speed situations.

Different versions of the same tyre size are also available depending on whether the wheel is driven or not, ensuring there’s options for front-, rear- and all-wheel-drive applications.

The Ultrac Vorti+ is available in sizes between 18 and 22 inches, while the more extreme Vorti R+ can be had between 19 and 21 inches. They are available now through UK tyre suppliers.
