Ex-McLaren CEO Mike Flewitt named chairman of BAC

Briggs Automotive Company is on a path to growth with help from its new chairman

Briggs Automotive Company, or BAC as it’s more widely known, has appointed former McLaren CEO Mike Flewitt as its executive chairman, bringing his wealth of experience to the small Liverpudlian sports car manufacturer as it expands its range beyond the iconic Mono in 2023.

Flewitt will join BAC co-founders Ian and Neill Briggs in the senior leadership team, helping to execute its next-stage scale up plan and product development. His 40-years of experience in the automotive industry specialises in the strategic management of global high performance brands and financial synergies.

Commenting on his appointment as BAC chairman, Mike Flewitt said: ‘I have long admired what Neill and Ian Briggs have achieved with BAC, and their unflinching determination to engineer one of the finest driving machines on the planet.’

Ian Briggs, BAC co-founder and design director also commented: ‘We are elated that an industry leader of Mike’s incredible calibre has joined BAC as Chairman. His appointment marks a pivotal moment in BAC’s history. Mike’s results-proven expertise and seasoned counsel will prove invaluable as we embark on the next stage of our strategic scale-up.’

All of this means one thing for BAC. A new era of lightweight, delicate and technologically advanced sports and track cars are on their way with an experienced leader at the helm with the experience required to execute it. It will succeed the brilliant Mono and even more impressive Mono R (that’s also the current leader of our evo Leaderboard rankings at Anglesey Circuit), which is no mean feat.
